19th August 2024
During the Summer break, we provided 1049 meals meals to 331 children and young people.
We are delighted to share the highlights of our programme of activities that ran for the past 6 weeks and provided a rich and enjoyable learning experience for the children and young people who participated. Over a span of six weeks, we successfully conducted 53 dynamic sessions, including 18 energising breakfast sessions, 30 engaging lunch clubs, three adventurous day trips, and two captivating movie days.
Our youngest members started their day with a wholesome breakfast, setting the stage for a dynamic line up of activities. They plunged into STEM adventures, crafting slime aquariums, tackling Lego challenges, and built marble mazes. They unleashed their creativity in art and craft designing their own canvas bags, watermelon fans and watercolour prints. Culinary skills were honed as they baked scrumptious cupcakes and rice krispie and grooved to the beat in rhythm and movement sessions.
Lunch club sessions were full of fun and excitement! The members enjoyed the freedom to select from a variety of daily activities. Creativity thrived at the art and craft station, crafting bespoke jewellery, painting canvases, personalising pencil cases and sleep masks. The STEM corner was a hub of innovation, where the giant bubble challenge and Hama bead creations sparked curiosity. The sports area buzzed with action-packed games like dodgeball and basketball enabling teamwork and camaraderie through playful competition. Open-air activities allowed the members to enjoy open play and garden activities where they planted seeds to grow their own pumpkins.
We welcomed families to participate in our family breakfast sessions. Together, we engaged in a community litter pick initiative and explored the exciting world of magnet fishing in partnership with Building Bridges.
